The swimming pool at Windermere Manor

Take the plunge in the heated indoor pool at our Lake District hotel.

Open to hotel guests and members, our 10 metre long pool is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Open daily from 8am until 8pm, swimmers can collect an access key from our friendly Reception Team.

Hotel guests are welcome to use the pool throughout their stay at no charge.

Frequently Asked Questions About The Pool

  • The swimming pool is open to all resident hotel guests and members with a current monthly or annual swimming membership.

    Children under 16 must be accompanied by a competent adult swimmer in the water with them at all times. Maximum ratio two children aged 4-8 years per adult. Maximum ratio one child aged under 4 years per adult.

  • The pool is unsupervised with no lifeguard on duty and members and guests are advised to exercise extreme care when using the swimming pool facilities and swim at their own risk.

    Safety equipment is supplied and checked regularly and video monitoring is in place.

    In the event of an emergency, notify the hotel team at the earliest safe opportunity.

  • The water in the pool is maintained at a temperature of 29 degrees Celsius with the surrounding ambient temperature at 30 degrees.

    Please exercise caution when introducing young children to the swimming pool. The minimum recommended temperature for babies below three months of age or weighing less than 12lbs in weight is 32 degrees or 30 degrees for older babies, so our pool would be unsuitable. Toddlers under two years of age are able to swim on the condition that they wear a wetsuit at 29 degrees.

    Children who are not toilet trained must wear a swim nappy in the pool and this must be disposed of appropriately.

  • Hotel guests can collect towels from Reception. Members must supply their own.

  • The pool opens seven days a week from 8am until 8pm.

  • There are no restrictions on when or for how long you use the pool and no need to book in advance. For health and safety reasons, we do have a maximum number of bathers permitted so, in the unlikely event that that the maximum number of swimmers is reached we may limit access.

  • Yes, we are offering swimming memberships for our local community with monthly, off-peak, term time and annual options available. Click on our Just Swim Membership page to learn more.

  • We do not currently have a swim school but have done in the past. To stay up to date on what’s available, we recommend following us on Facebook.

  • Our hotel swimming pool is 10 metres long.

  • Visit Reception on the Ground Floor to exchange your room key or membership card for a key and ‘check in’ to the swimming pool. Turn right before the staircase, then left and take the door on your immediate left. Go down the stairs to access the swimming area.

    Please ensure that you return the key upon exiting the pool.

  • Yes, all users of the swimming pool (or parents of under 18s) must agree to and abide by the rules of using the swimming facilities.
